11/16/2008:
Dave
Arnold, Alex Blank, and Marc Yates went up north to compete in the
Joslins' Candian Open grappling tournament. This tournament
continues to grow, and had a very large turn-out. Some of the
beginner divisions had 40+ competitors. All of them represented
well with some tough matches. Alex brought home some hardware,
winning his advanced adult middleweight divisions in gi and no-gi!
He also had possibly the fastest submission of the day, a
triangle in 15 seconds. Awesome job Alex!
09/27/2008:
A
very big congratulations to Alex Blank on his recent promotion to
purple belt! He has been working very diligently towards this
goal and it really shows. Not to mention how much of a beast on
the mat he can be :)
09/07/2008:
And another
congratulations, this time to Kevin McCain on his recent promotion to
blue belt! He has quickly absorbed everything thrown at him,
while still sweating the details (no pun intended). Great job!
I have a page that lists everyone I've ever promoted
here.
Also, Darrin, Jim, and Jason recently competed at the Hayastan
grappling tournament. This was Jim and Darrin's first
competition, and I was happy to see them applying what they have been
learning. Jason also had some tough matches in the intermediate
division. Congratulations guys for stepping on the mat!
08/22/2008:
Congratulations
to Jason Wawro on his recent promotion to blue belt! He's
consistently been to class every week for the past 1.5 years and he
really thinks about BJJ in his spare time too :) The results
speak for themselves, and I am proud to see him wearing the new belt.
08/11/2008:
Congrats
to Dave Arnold and Marc Yates for heading down to the Jersey shore and
competing in another big NAGA event, Battle at the Beach. Dave was
very disappointed to not place, but he will learn, and be back tougher
than ever! Marc brought home a silver in purple-belt gi
super-heavyweight, and silver no-gi advanced super-heavyweight.
